Hello watch enthusiasts and welcome! Welcome to the first of what I hope will be many articles dedicated to a hobby that I enjoy so much, watch collecting. As we embark on our journey together, I want to introduce you to your hosts and your community, and welcome you along on our adventure.
My own adventure in watch collecting started longer ago than I care to mention, though I think it safe to say that I have been interested in watches for most of my life. I remember two watches given me to me by my father which sparked my interest and ultimately my addiction interest. I love all watches, but I definitely have particular styles that I lean toward. And, my tastes change from time to time, too. For the last ten or so years, I’ve been interested in vintage watches and the stories behind them. But, there is so much more about this hobby that I’m drawn to – far more than I could write here. I suspect if you’re here, if you’re wanting to be part of our community, you, too, feel the same way.
And it is with that passion, that I met my friend and business partner, Cris. Cris and I have been friends for many years, and we became friends over our shared passion for collecting watches. During the pandemic, we used our passion for watches to keep our minds off of the world around us, and now that we’re starting to get past all of that, we want to share that very same passion and enthusiasm with others. We’re not rich, we’re not fancy, we’re just two guys who enjoy this hobby and hope others will join us.
Through our blog and podcast we want to create a resource for people who are interested in watch collecting, but don’t know where to start or want to learn more. We want to share our own experiences and what we have learned from our years of collecting. We want to research and develop more knowledge on the topic and share that with like-minded people. We also want to share relevant pieces from our collections and tell the stories behind them.
So, why start this thing when there are literally millions of podcasts you could listen to or blogs you could read? I guess, for Cris and myself, the answer is “why not?” We both believe the more knowledge and the more opportunities to share that knowledge the better. We also think we have a lot to learn, too. So, why not create a space for all of us to learn and grow together.
And with that passion, the Quarantine Watch Club is born. We have some exciting ideas planned – things that we hope can help build and grow our community and our hobby. We hope you’ll stay tuned and join us on this adventure! Welcome aboard!
